Trent Kaese and his father were the official groundbreakers behind the Cottonwood Golf Course development in 1995. They were responsible for the design of the golf course as well as the construction. Some of Trent’s favourite memories are from the first hand shaping of the golf course by hitting golf ball from potential tee boxes to where a fairway should be and walking down the fairway cutting trees down to open up the fairway. “I am sure everyone wishes they could carry a chainsaw with them while golfing” claims Trent. Managing a golf course has provided many great adventures for Trent and his family such as the enjoyment he gets from the excited guests participating in charity events, during Men’s and Ladies Nights, and as guests of Cottonwood members.

Winston joined Cottonwood Golf Course in December of 2008. His responsibilities include increasing awareness, improving service levels and creating a culture for Cottonwood’s staff, managers, members and guests that will lead Cottonwood to becoming the best value for your dollar on Vancouver Island.
A CPGA Golf Professional since 2004, Winston spent 7 years with Arbutus Ridge Golf and Country Club located in Cobble Hill BC where he began as a Back Shop attendant before working his way to managing their Golf Operations and later Sales and Events of Arbutus Ridge. After managing Arrowsmith Golf and Country Club for a little more than a year, Winston moved cross country to open a new world class property as the Head Professional of the Raven at Lora Bay located just North of Toronto Ontario. The Raven offered experiences such as a The Ford Wayne Gretzky Celebrity Classic, Telus Skins Game and Tom Lehmen and Sergio Garcia promotional events.
As a golf instructor, Winston was trained through the GBC Golf Academy and assisted in the creation of the Golf Academy at The Raven at Lora Bay. His most extensive experience stems from ‘beginner ladies’ and junior development’ programs.
